Intergroup Relations

IGR Alumni Gather at Dominick's for Our Annual Spring Alumni Mixer

by Christiana Allen-Pipkin, Student Coordinator of IGR Alumni Programs

Once you graduate from the University of Michigan and IGR, it can be incredibly tempting to want to continue being affiliated with IGR. Fortunately, there are many ways to stay connected - we have opportunities to become involved with us, no matter where you are located in the world!

Staying Connected

  • ONLINE - If you are regularly online, our social media pages can be a perfect place to start. Our accounts have up-to-date information about social-justice and diversity-related happenings around campus, program information, photos, and articles of interest. To access general IGR social media accounts, simply click the social media icons in any of our emails or at the bottom of our website. Alumni should also especially check out our Facebook group called "Alumni of U-M and The Program on Intergroup Relations."
  • IGR ALUMNI COMMITTEE - Our committee interacts in person, via phone or online video chatting software. So, participating in the committee is easy, even if you don't live in Ann Arbor! The committee discusses goals for the upcoming year, plans events for IGR alumni to reconnect and creates new ways for alumni to engage and reach out within the IGR community. *** It is not too late to become involved as a member of our Alumni Committee! If you would like to participate in the process of making IGR alumni programs fantastic, please email for more information.
  • IGR ALUMNI CITY CLUBS -  Interested in learning more about city clubs to reconnect with IGR alum in your area? Click here to learn more about if your region already has one, and how to start one if one does not already exist. City clubs can be a great way to connect with other alums without ever leaving your hometown. In the past, our groups have held mixers, community service events, and even IGR-style dialogues!

IGR Alumni Program Updates

We just held our Fall Alumni Committee meeting, on Thursday, December 17th. We checked in on all of our city clubs and brainstormed how we as a committee might shape the year to come. Stay tuned to learn about the Outstanding IGR Alumni Award process, which will be rolled out in the next few
months and awarded in the spring at the annual IGR Graduation Celebration. I look forward to giving
you an update on our plans in the near future!
