THANK YOU to our 2015 National Intergroup Dialogue Institute attendees for making this another great year - we greatly appreciated your enthusiasm and participation! We look forward to start planning the 2016 National Intergroup Dialogue Institute. Registration for 2016 is scheduled to go live in January 2016. 

The Program on Intergroup Relations hosts a National Intergroup Dialogue Institute annually for faculty and staff who wish to learn our philosophy and techniques for the purpose of creating dialogue programs on their own campuses. 

The National Institute will be held June 17th - 20th, 2015 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Join us in learning about intergroup dialogue and how you might use it at your institution!

  • Explore the overall dialogue framework and The Michigan Model
  • Strategize the development and support of academic and co-curricular programs
  • Participate in engaging activities commonly used in intergroup dialogue settings

While we will engage in interactive activities, the purpose of this Institute is to demonstrate the curriculum and structure of intergroup dialogue.

The Institute provides support and skiils for applying the pedagogy on home campuses.   (Time does not permit formal facilitator training, although there is discussion of next steps in this regard.)

2015 Registration Information

We recommend bringing teams from your institution, as time will be dedicated to strategizing the development and support of programs at your particular institution. Additionally, we strongly recommend that undergraduate or graduate students attending the institute be accompanied by a faculty/staff member and/or be a part of an institutional team. 

Registration for the Institute has been limited to a maximum number of 70 people in order to ensure that we are able to meet the needs of all attendees. Group registrations may not exceed 6 persons, and one institution may not register more than 8 people totalPlease contact IGR before registering if you plan on bringing more than 6 people from your institution or program to the Institute. 

The drop-dead deadline for registration is Friday, June 5th. However, if we reach capacity before June 5th, registration will close earlier.

** There will be no onsite registration. Furthermore, you must order additional books as part of your registration / ahead of time, as we will not have onsite book purchases. **

Registration rates include:

  • 4 day attendance
  • Lunch on all days
  • Snacks during breaks
  • A flash drive with all of the institute power point presentations, many of our exercises/activities, our complete dialogue curriculum, and other training information and assessment tools
  • A copy of Facilitating Intergroup Dialogues: Bridging Differences, Catalyzing Change. (1 per institution, 2 for institutions with more than 4 (5+) participant registrations)
  • A DVD video describing our intergroup dialogue program (1 per institution)

Your institution/national program would be responsible for airfares and housing in Ann Arbor.

Payment Information

We are able to accept payment via check or credit card 

Credit Card Payment 
Payment is accepted via Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover Card. Payments will appear as a charge from Conference Management Services. Your credit card will be charged at the time you complete your online registration. 

Check Payment 
If paying by check, we allow a three (3) week grace  period from the time you submit your registration to receiving your check. If we do not receive your check three (3) weeks after your registration submission, your registration will be cancelled.

You will receive an email confirmation and receipt immediately after registering for the Institute. A pre-questionnaire and map will be emailed to each individual closer to the start of the Institute.

Cancellation notification must be received no later than May 30, 2015 in order to qualify for a refund, less a $50.00 administrative fee. Those who register, but fail to cancel by the deadline and do not attend the Institute, will not be eligible for a refund. Substitute attendees are welcome. For cancellations or substitutions please email or call (734) 764-2000. 

In the unlikely event that the Institute must be canceled, the entire submitted registration fee will be refunded without further liability on the part of the organizers.

We have secured a block of rooms at the conference site (Sheraton Ann Arbor), which is approximately 3 miles from the University of Michigan Central Campus. Transportation Information

The most inexpensive way of getting from the airport to Ann Arbor is via the Michigan Flyer. Information can be found and reservations can be made at the Michigan Flyer website. If you are taking the Michigan Flyer and staying at the Sheraton Ann Arbor, we recommend traveling to Ann Arbor Kensington Court (610 Hilton Blvd. Ann Arbor, Michigan 48108) rather than Blake Transit Center, as the former is 0.5 miles away from the Sheraton.

Other travel arrangements may be made through a taxi or car service.  U.S. Limo Sedan & Taxi Service has 24-hour service and a variety of transportation services. Information can be found and reservations can be made at the U.S. Limo Sedan & Taxi Service website.
