Adrienne Dessel, PhD, LMSW is a Co-Associate Director of IGR and Lecturer in the School of Social Work. She has an MSW from Simmons College and a PhD in Social Work from the University of Tennessee and worked for 20 years as a community based social worker. Adrienne provides administrative support to the program, curriculum leadership, and consultations to faculty and staff. She teaches courses on intergroup dialogue and dialogue facilitation, intergroup relations, and global conflict and coexistence. Her research focuses on intergroup dialogue processes and outcomes, on topics of Arab/Jewish conflict, religion and sexual orientation, gender, and dialogue facilitator learning. Her recent book bridges the divide in social work between conservative Christian and LGBTQ people. She has traveled through 12 countries across the globe, and hiking over a glacier in the Hindu Kush mountains was an adventure she will never forget!
