Shana is the Assistant Director of IGR. She oversees all co-curricular programming, including CommonGround, the Student Engagement Team, and the National Intergroup Dialogue Institute, along with teaching and consulting. Shana is passionate about supporting students to explore social justice issues, deepen their understanding of social identities, develop skills in communicating across difference and while in conflict, and move from awareness to action. Prior to joining IGR, Shana practiced law at the ACLU of Michigan focusing on access to quality public education and worked at the University of Michigan Office of Student Conflict Resolution focusing on socially and restoratively just approaches to navigating conflict. Shana holds a B.A. in Women’s Studies from the University of Michigan, where she completed IGR training and practicum courses, and a J.D. from the University of Miami. Outside of work, Shana enjoys spending time with her family and beloved cat, gardening, biking and napping.
