IGR strongly supports students joining campus conversations on identity and social justice. Today we share a piece from IGR student Elena Ross, published in the Michigan Daily.
Elena also shared how her experiences in IGR have helped her to explore her views on social issues.
As my primary source of inspiration, education, and support, IGR had enhanced my life and changed my worldview in countless ways. It has shaped the way I view society- making me aware of and knowledgable about the pervasive systems of power, privilege, and oppression in our society. But perhaps the most important thing IGR has done for me is to give me the strength to address these important issues without reservation and the courage to confront my lived experiences honestly. Without my experiences with IGR, I would not have had the language nor the courage to write this piece.
