'An important year of growth'—IGR shares its 2023-24 annual report

The Program on Intergroup Relations (IGR) is delighted to share highlights from our 2023-2024 annual report. 

"This has been an important year of growth, learning, and planning for [IGR]," said IGR co-directors Monita Thompson and Donna Rich Kaplowitz. "We remain steadfast in our mission of education for social justice as a continuing effort to raise consciousness and provide skills for working through conflict. We strive to do our part in making the world a better place."

Achievements and milestones include:

  • Courses: With 656 course enrollments and new courses offered, IGR's impact continues to grow
  • CommonGround: Participation is flourishing, with our student programming team organizing and facilitating these critical learning opportunities to 877 of their peers
  • Summer Youth Dialogues: Eight U-M Social Justice Fellows organized and facilitated intergroup dialogues with 76 metro Detroit high school students.
  • Advancing the field: Led and learned alongside 66 higher education practitioners from 23 institutions at our virtual National Intergroup Dialogue Institute
  • Released valuable new insights on intergroup dialogue, including Facilitating Transformational Dialogues: Creating Socially Just Communities
  • And more!
