Mark Chesler

Bio

Mark Chesler, PhD (he/him/his) is a professor emeritus of sociology at the University of Michigan and a founding faculty member of The Program on Intergroup Relations. Mark is an activist scholar conducting research, teaching, consulting and organizing on issues of social justice and personal/organizational change around race and gender equity, and of the psycho-social impact of childhood cancer. Mark's teaching duties have included the innovation of community service learning projects, leadership in the Program on Intergroup Dialogues, and courses/workshops on social change, qualitative research methods, and participatory action research. He is the author/editor of seven books and over 200 chapters, articles and reports, and frequently speaks with professional and public agencies / audiences. Mark has two daughters, two sons-in-law, five grandchildren and one granddog.
