Monita Thompson

Bio

Monita Thompson (she/her/hers) serves as the Student Life co-director of The Program on Intergroup Relations. Her student affairs work of more than 25 years has focused on educating students in intergroup relations and social justice education, specifically the training, development, and support of peer educators in skills and techniques of intergroup dialogue facilitation, conflict management, and supporting students in their journey to becoming a social change agent. She conducts workshops at colleges and universities on creating and sustaining intergroup dialogue programs and social justice education opportunities on their campuses.

She is the co-editor of Facilitating Intergroup Dialogues: Bridging Differences, Catalyzing Change and is the co-developer of the Schrage and Thompson Spectrum Model for managing the administration of student conflict on college campuses.

She is an alumnus of the HBCU, Tennessee State University where she received a BS in criminal justice and has a Master of Arts in education from Western Kentucky University.
