A number of IGR experts will facilitate critical workshops for faculty, staff, and students through the Difficult Dialogues Meet the Moment Initiative this winter.
Faculty danny alvarez, Jacob Foster, Patrick Kazyak-Albaladejo Muñiz, Donna Rich Kaplowitz, Todd Sevig, and Deborah Slosberg, as well as IGR-trained graduate students Jordan Hunter and Sophie Phillips, will lead winter semester sessions on topics that include dialogue basics, bodily responses to conflict, inclusive teaching, and giving and getting feedback. Other sessions will be led by practitioners in partner units.
The initiative launched in fall 2024 to help campus community members engage in productive conversations around topics that may be difficult to discuss. It returns this winter with renewed funding and under the continued direction of Kaplowitz, offering these new installments in the workshop series, as well as one-hour coaching, and its growing Campus Dialogue Network.
Difficult Dialogues Meet the Moment Initiative is made possible though partnership between LSA Undergraduate Education; Division of Student Life; U-M Year of Democracy, Civic Empowerment, and Global Engagement; Stephen M. Ross School of Business; Raoul Wallenberg Institute; The Program on Intergroup Relations; and Difficult Dialogues National Resource Center.
