We’re proud to share that Stephanie Hicks is the recipient of the 2025 Individual Award for Outstanding Contributions to Undergraduate Education in Race & Ethnicity Instruction. The award honors faculty who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to undergraduate learning in courses that explore race, ethnicity, and inequality—recognizing the creativity and commitment needed to advance a key area of the LSA curriculum.
Stephanie, a lecturer in The Program on Intergroup Relations, leads race and ethnicity engagement between IGR and the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. Her approach to teaching and curriculum development stands out for its innovation and impact. Through her popular courses, Stephanie helps students engage with complex topics around social identity, justice, pop culture, and dialogue.
Stephanie has also helped shape understanding outside the classroom through popular and news media, a recent co-edited book on building relationships and communicating across differences, and ongoing scholarship.
The award was announced by LSA Undergraduate Education this summer, and will come with a well-deserved $3,500 award in the coming academic year.
