AUDIENCE: U-M FACULTY & STAFF
OFFERED: WINTER

Dialogic Facilitation Training—the newest programmatic offering through IGR’s Community of Scholars—is a four week program launching winter 2026 for faculty and staff interested in growing their facilitation skills rooted in dialogic pedagogy and practice. 

Participation requires a commitment to attend all sessions and complete short readings/assignments in between each meeting.

Eligibility

  • Current U-M faculty and staff (Ann Arbor, Dearborn, Flint)
  • In a role where facilitation is an active part of your work (teaching, training others, etc.)
  • Has a foundational understanding of social justice
  • Has explored their own social identities (race, ability, gender, etc.) and has an understanding of how those social identities impact their experiences in the world
  • Enthusiastic about facilitation and growing your facilitation skills

Time requirements

We will meet in-person at North Quad 2435 (105 S State St, Ann Arbor, MI 48109) on Mondays, 8:30 am - 12:30 pm, for 4 weeks: 4/6, 4/13, 4/20, 4/27. Attendance at all sessions for their entirety is required.

Dialogic Facilitation Training is part of IGR's Community of Scholars, an intentional space for U-M faculty and staff to gain skills and experience with intergroup dialogue and dialogic pedagogy, while building meaningful relationships with passionate colleagues and practitioners. Associate Director of Strategic Partnerships and Dissemination

Patrick Kazyak-Albaladejo Muñiz is the associate director for strategic partnerships and dissemination at The Program on Intergroup Relations. In their role, Patrick provides leadership and guidance in the creation, implementation, and assessment of strategic relationships and partnerships to help U-M build capacity for dialogic education and advance the field of intergroup relations education nationally. They are also responsible for coordination of the National Intergroup Dialogue Institute as well as IGR’s consultation program.

danny alvarez is a lecturer with The Program on Intergroup Relations in the University of Michigan's College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. They're a passionate facilitator, educator, and organizer who has applied social work practices to their work for the last decade. With practices strongly rooted in popular education and intergroup dialogue pedagogy, they have taught, developed and managed programs at both U-M and Stanford University over the last 5 years.
